Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) Training
An 18-month intensive training program to enable therapists in Nebraska and other states to work with caregivers and children ages 0 to 5 who have experienced trauma, loss, or disruptions in attachment.

You are not alone. In our Nebraska CPP Training Program, you will learn how to work with children who have experienced trauma. You will be well supported during the training program. You will not only learn theories, but also get to practice providing CPP under the guidance of a State CPP trainer.
What You'll Learn in this Training
- Trauma-informed approach and evidence-based approach
- How to carry out an infant and early childhood assessment
- How to work with the primary caregiver to meet the child's needs
- How to develop a treatment plan incorporating the child's experiences and symptoms
- How to implement developmentally appropriate interventions
Cost
- Therapists licensed in the state of Nebraska: $1,000
- Therapists licensed in any other state: $3,000
The costs of this training include all the components. Applicants will be responsible for purchasing their own materials and paying for travel expenses.
Prerequisites
The minimum requirement to be considered for CPP training is a license to practice mental health and CPP supervision/consultation. Provisional licenses are also acceptable.

How Does CPP Training Work?
This is an 18-month intensive training program. All components are mandatory.
Pre-training
- Attend live/recorded PreWork session prior to starting training
- Complete CPP PreWork – videos, CPP Manuals, articles
3 Learning Sessions
(offered 6 months apart)

Learning Session 1Core CPP didactics.

Learning Session 2Case-based CPP competency building intensive

Learning Session 3Case-based CPP competency building intensive
Provide CPP in Practice
Provide CPP to children under age 6 who have experienced at least one traumatic event in the 18-month period.
- Clinician participants: 4 CPP cases
- Supervisor participants: 2 CPP cases
Video consultation calls with a CPP Trainer
Twice-monthly. Attend a minimum of 23 consult calls during the 18-month period.
CPP Case Presentation
Present at least two CPP cases during CPP consultation calls.
Reflective CPP Supervision
Participate in weekly reflective CPP supervision.
Fidelity Monitoring
Complete and submit fidelity measures on your cases.
After Training Ends
You will be rostered on the Nebraska CPP Directory and the UCSF national roster when you complete the training.
Consider seeing young children ages 0 to 5
Children ages 0 to 5 need more support because they are developmentally impacted by adverse reactions and require the support of a caregiver and healthy attachment.
