NRPVYC supports two modalities of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.

IoWA-PCIT Training

IoWA-PCIT (Integration of Working Models of Attachment into Parent Child Interaction Therapy)

This modality:

  • can be utilized with families of young children with behavioral and/or attachment concerns, including children who have experienced attachment disruptions from trauma and/or loss
  • integrates findings from attachment research (e.g., relationship assessment, promotion of security, and patterns of parent-child interaction) into PCIT while maintaining the core defining features of PCIT

IoWA-PCIT keeps a roster for nationally and internationally trained clinicians.

PCIT International Training

PCIT International

This modality:

  • provides a specialized therapeutic approach that teaches effective parenting skills through the use of live coaching
  • has strong research support for reducing rates of child maltreatment
  • has been used extensively with children with histories of trauma and children with developmental delays, including Autism

PCIT International has an internationally-recognized certification program to promote effective dissemination of PCIT nationally and internationally.
