This presentation provides information on building foundational skills with a relationship-based intervention using a sensory perspective to challenging behavior, emotions and sensory needs.

This presentation covers:

  1. The basics of sensory processing and identifying participants’ own sensory preferences/patterns.
  2. How to support a child’s sensory needs.
  3. How to utilize sensory activities to aid in emotional regulation and attention.

This event is directed toward any professionals who interact with parents of young children in any capacity.

Amy Schnacker, OTR/L, TBRI

Amy graduated from Creighton University in 2000 as an Occupational Therapist and has worked with children and families in a variety of settings. In 2016, she adopted her children from foster care and became a TBRI® Practitioner in 2018 after learning traditional parenting strategies were not effective for her children. She enjoys volunteering for Royal Family Kids Camp, walking, spending time with family, Husker Football, and reading. She founded Connecting Kidz in 2019 and is thankful for the journey that led her to discovering connected parenting for her family and devotes her life and education to helping other families and children overcome challenging behaviors to heal, learn and grow.
